Back in 2007 as Lil Wayne’s tour van left Beacon Theater in New York, it was reported that the van reeked of the smell of weed. Police searched the van and Lil Wayne was found smoking weed with others in the van. During the search artist was found to be in possession of a loaded gun also.
He was charged for both drugs and for the possession of a .40 caliber pistol.
The charges USUALLY mean 3.5 years behind bars. Lil Wayne has pleaded guilty and is sentenced for 1 year term in the jail.

His lawyer said the rapper expected to be held in protective custody, separated from other prisoners, at New York City's Rikers Island jail complex.
The 27-year-old Grammy-Award winning singer delivered a brief bow as he was led from Manhattan criminal court.
Lil Wayne, who has vowed to keep writing while behind bars, had already said goodbye to his fans during recent concerts and in video messages posted online.
